I bet there are a lot of talented web designers in this forum. Anybody think we should start our own template club? Any ideas? I am sure a lot of us have created some pretty good templates already. At the very least, maybe we should post some of our own templates for others to enjoy. I will get some polished up and post them. Just thought I should throw that out there.

Well, we could set up a website and sell them. Money going to the creator, or we could collaborate on creating them. With the members of this forum, I bet we could out-do the other Joomla Template sites. Just a thought.

well, love this idea, i can to collaborate with site or hosting. To start we would need one original template and domain (joomlamakers.com is good). If one developer donate a template this will good.

I like it. Anyone have a cool template they would want to build the site around? Let us know and we will get the site up and running. I'll get the domain and hosting unless someone else wants to?

I can not code or design a template but I can provide the hosting. Someone want to get the domain name? I don't know about the selling part as far as who would make what or how to keep track. Just suggestions: I do have a really nice shopping cart that we could use. (FULLY customizable) It has everything including downloadable products. You select how many times someone can download, how long the download exists for the person(1,2,5, days, weeks, etc... You can also make different groups. So I suppose you could have basic shopper who buys one or two templates at a time or make a new group within your admin section and have people join more like a club. The store also has a complete affiliate section so others can become affiliates. We can still use Joomla because it has allot to offer(forum, blogging, etc) but use the store as a wrapper. To make it integrate nicely we would just have to drop the header and footer of the store and use only one column and change the css to match the Joomla template. And use a one column template for Joomla. (Example) Business Revolution would be an easy one to integrate it with. Just my thoughts.

The hardest part of joomla theming is coding, so we should find coder first [/b] lol theres very little php required in a template just a single file, the index.php and that is mostly made up of simple included statements. Its simple enough to create a template for joomla the hard work is making it look nice. The CSS and graphic design is the most difficult part. Do you really think ppl will pay for the templates, just look what happens to the commercial templates that are released by other authors, they are leeched on sites like this not even 1 day after they are released.

I think the only template site "we" should start is a free one.. hosted from some place like Russia and have all themes available that have been "found" and use the banner ads to generate $$ instead. thats my 2cents.

I didn't know that virtuemart had digital delivery. I have never used it. Sorry about that. I have only used oscommerce. Now I use Creloaded. A branch of oscommerce but fully loaded. It's free unless you get the pro version. Just another suggestion: I belong to another forum that has a section called Joomla templates modified. They modify the templates and submit them to a subforum in the Joomla template section. There would be no need for a hosting or a domain name, we could ask the admin if he or she would allow it. That would be keeping it simple. It would need a moderator. I vote for dcliff9(your idea) or chrisb123( you seem knowledgeable). Which ever one has the most time. I agree about the leeching of other's paid products. Once 1 person has it, it is all over the internet. Look at template monster. You can get any template they sell. I can modify a template (it does take me a while) but I have never tried making one from scratch.
